This blog is an attempt to bring the Indian venture community closer together. All its constituents, right from the entrepreneurs themselves, venture capital firms, angel funds, lawyers, recruiters, investment bankers, incubation cells — the list goes on.
As an entrepeneur, then as an angel investor and private equity professional, I have felt that despite close alignment of our end goals, there exist vast gaps in our understanding of each other. Gaps which are often responsible for inefficiencies in the system. For example, the entrepreneurs’ collective understanding of what the “hot areas” are might be very different from the investors’ view — venturewoods is a platform to discuss, and not necessarily agree on, those views. This site is an attempt to prevent all of us from being lost in the woods.
The objective of venturewoods is to be an open community without compromising on quality. If you feel that you have thoughts that you want to share, feel free to write in and request an account. In any case, do feel free to comment.

We have an innovative product that helps an organization to generate more leads. Our solutions work in tandem with advertisements in print media.
We have an IPR and applied for an patent (patent pendind status).
On a rough estimate, our solutions are capable of generating revenue of Rs.8 crore PA. As this is a subscription model, cost of marketing nose dive from second year onwards.
Our first option is to transfer the rights (while we concentrate on building more innovative products). We seek your assistance / help in this regards.

Hi Alok,
It was nice meeting you yesterday at the IAMAI E-Business summit. Finally put a face against the name, since we had already interacted earlier on email and at LinkedIn.
I am co-founder of Homeindia.com, an e-retail startup based out of Mumbai, India. Set up prior to the dotcom boom in 1998, we have gone through the boom, then bust, and then post-bust days. Having spent a hard 4-5 years slogging it out with limited resources, we have picked up the nitty gritty of the business and are poised to push for significant growth at this time.
We are looking for funding for the same.

Dear friends,
I am working with a leading Registrar in India for over 12 years. I am planning to set up a similar business venture and for this an existing company with good clientele is identified. I have good plans for the future. I need Rs.1.00 crore for this venture of this Rs.50.00 lakhs is required immdtly and the balance in 6 months to 1 year’s time. I need this as capital and not loan. I am told that this is a very small funding for VCs and iff any VC interested in this project, please contact me immdtly. I have plans to provide exit route after 3 years. Can any one help me?

Hi,
I have been associated with the news television media in India for the last 10 years and have had the good fortune of having worked with some of the best of the breed television news broadcasters. Am interested in knowing about ‘media process outsourcing’. Since media assets are increasingly in the digital form, they could easily be catalogued, indexed, tagged, repurposed, repackaged out of India with cost arbitrage advantages. A lot of print media related work has already moved to India. Would lke to know if any audio-visual related outsourcing is also happening or is on the anvil.
Regards,
Himanshu.
