As the “Quit India” movement demonstrated collective non violent action is a very powerful force that can introduce radical change.
” Rang de Basanti” articulated the need for radical change to “Make India” . The use of violence to achieve the goal is not something that I believe in. As the cliche goes the power of the pen is mightier than the gun.
Singapore has managed to introduce massive behavioural change but their methods may not be appropriate in a country like India.
I am working on a whitepaper to articulate some of my thoughts around using the power of the web and entrepreneurship to “Make India” . If you would like a copy of the whitepaper when it is done send me an email. I hope to limit the size of the whitepaper to a few pages.
“Make India” could be a “social blue whale” not just a “social elephant” if it energizes a nation . If you are a social entrepreneur interested in making “Make India” happen do get in touch.

Dear Sanjay,
I’d love a copy of the whitepaper.
Why I would like a copy: I am booting up a small social experiment in which I’m combining craft and technology to create products of high utility and aesthetic appeal. In its full bloom, it will help solve a pain point at the demand side and will make use of artisans and craftsmen at the supply side.
When the supply and demand match, it will infuse/integrate technology in the livelihood of artisans and craftsmen.
I am presently working on a Physical(paper) file tracking system that illustrates the above. You know, much of government and public sector work is carried out base on paper files. Even with very aggressive computerization and digitization, paper files are not going to go away soon.
Paper files have a tendency to get lost when you actually need it. The file tracking system addresses this pain point.
On the production side, the knowhow for making the tags is so easy that it does not require any technical knowledge or even literacy. It was demonstrated to be absorbable by a A 10th pass crafts/garment worker girl – who not just produced to spec but also made some significant modifications. This whole knowhow is planned to be opensourced for wider reach and more importantly for easy innovation.
I’m happy to share that this experimentation has completed one full cycle through a successful installation of the file tracking system at BSNL chennai. This cycle is financially supported by TIFAC/DSIR TePP program.
For the curious Geeky types: No this is not a RFID based solution. And no it is not a competition to RFID either. It is more like a complimentary to RFID.
The real social action is going to happen from now on and I need inspiration and all the support from the network of ‘Make India’ types.
Hi Sanjay,
I’d like to help in any way you’d need. Of course, I’d also like a copy.
Cheers,
Alap
Sanjay,
I’d love a copy when you’re done as well.
