Online travel continues to get interest. After half a dozen early stage investments and launches, consumer experience remains at abyssmal levels. My own view is that these players will figure it out over next few months, but a person I was talking to made a valid point — focus on user experience is in the genetic makeup of the company; its either there or not there…
Contentsutra has reports on progress at Flightraja, and another travel metasearch portal Meratrip. Looking for a breakaway on user experience…

Pukhraj, the fun is in participating in the mad rush, getting hands dirty and making a genuine try to build something worthwhile. This experience is priceless and few money going down the drain is better than to sit on fence and watch the fun. I hope you get the point
Rad, who doesn’t chase the next cool thing…? Why that `you indians’…? This kinda’ comment normally is heard from folks whose Jobs have been offshored. If you belong there, let me tell you our BPOs are hiring…!
Regarding your take on BoA…In case if your `classification’ is bang on, either it will get its act right over time or will fade into oblivion. Why not allow its time in the Sun…?
Mukund,
I would tend to agree with Rad to a certain extent minus the BoA bashing. The very basic notion of venture capital and entrepreneurship is to promote meritocracy and risk taking on new ideas. Just because there are so many VCs lining-up in India, looking out for companies to invest, doesn’t mean that they should promote a blind, rat-race. This is an anamoly to the capitalist structure of promoting innovation (exploiting India’s huge talent and potential, as they generally say) which they so strongly vouch for. Sadly, right now, there’s so much money but so less proven, new business models. What’s the fun in it?
Rad, its so funny to read your comments. Atleast someone is doing something, someone is providing bread and butter for survival. When one is learning few things, its OK to give something in return. Even a school charges you fee for teaching you something. All those free advice you get arent worth it. Its time you pay and learn few skills.
And then someone will stand up and cry for “MA of India”.
When all Indian investors, VCs and “Angels” only seemed to be interested in quickly cashing on something already proven in the west, what do you expect to “Grow” in India”? After this Web2.0 mad chase, you Indians will be chasing Web3.0 and so on.
You talk of BoA as if its a noble group of elders who will revolutionize a sleeping nation. You are just some pathetic middlemen who want their cut and cheap stock options in return of your “Advice” and “Contacts”.
