Looks like the debate on who is bigger – Monster or Naukri – is reaching a crescendo. Well, both Arun and Sanjeev are good friends, and I clearly want to stay clear of that debate.
The debate that is worth having, in my view, is who has a better customer experience — both for job seekers and employers. More and more, the business is about building relationships with customers and getting higher usage (not just repeat revenues). By now these businesses are well past the awareness stage — they should be cultivating brand champions by now — and the basis for that is customer experience.
Any thoughts? (as a rule of the game, lets see if we can impose the self discipline of employees of Monster and Naukri abstaining from this, unless they do so with full disclosure).
Actually, also check out Clickjobs.com — we are an investor in the group company, and these guys tell me they have better customer experience than any of the other brands 😉 Following the above rule, I will abstain!

If the seasoned employer is not able to see thro the `fakey’ , chances are that the fakey’s just too good….! May be he didn’t get his chances in the real world and is confident of making it….Try giving him a chance and see what comes off him…May be he’s a bit too `creative’ ( and a well networked risk taker which passes for virtue ) to be real and could deliver than an original. If not, he’s already played into your hands to be fired.

Only that kind of service will ensure that a right guy is hired. I have seen many doctoring their resume and pass off as an experienced guy. Once you get in, you have network of friends and people you know who are one phone call away, who offer technical support to you haha. In short, the fakey ones can ask them if they get stuck on some project. Now how can any seasoned guy know this? Well job portals are indeed getting interviews, its not that bad. I dont know about monster but naukri does get you things to the next round but sure its is one useless site, where the index page is full of images that takes n-minutes to load.
As far as ClickJobs.com is concerned it is certainly innovative and way beyond the legue of Naukri or monster.They are late, but steady and stable. Some of their strategy are subtle but killer campaigns. I think a guerilla marketing is in place.

What you expect better suits private sleuths and not Job portals. May be Jop portals can provide that as a VAS, but that will deter resume postings – meaning no raw material to feed. Candidates don’t mind reference checks by credible potential employers but not by job portals. Imagine a candiadate registering with multiple job portals and each of them getting back to his ex-boss for reference checks and giving him hell….!
There’s nothing to substitute one-to-one meeting with the candidate and at best you can take the guy thro some hands-on test. A seasoned employer will always see thro the candidate and run the reference checks himself.
And who will check the employer’s credentials ?…most of the times these job portals convey a rosy picture about the employers background and when a talented candidate leaves a job and walks in to find a total mess which was never told to him and least expected ( including salaries / statutory payments in arrears, demand notices for TDS defaults, unpaid creditors, Loan defaults threatening recovery action etc. )
Yes. Job portals can significantly improve by reducing the clutter on homepage….Naukri homepage is a shithouse. I doubt whether these corporates have ever hired even one candidate thro them.
