Of course, this is a favourite topic of mine. Techcrunch has an article which provides a couple of directions for online jobs. Notably
I want to see a company come out and eHarmony-ize the job market. Make it so candidates go through a 15- to 30-minute application process that might include various tests related to their claimed skillsets. Allow recruiters to specify what skillsets are required and make them somehow rank the importance of the required skillsets.
Iād also like to see some social networking aspects along the lines of LinkedIn ā allow people to refer their friends to jobs.
Both very valid for the Indian market as well. I think the social networking aspect has to be taken a whole level beyond linkedin — kinda non-incremental in my view.

Hi Alok,
I have been seeing your views/comments in various places including some article on national news papers.
I have already visited BOA and its indeed excellent platform. (Soon you will hear from me)
Well, coming to the point now. I’m already planning to set up an exclusive portals targeting the freshers/passout (grads,PG)/
This happens to be one area of our interest and the subject of one of our web properties – Bajaar.com (although currently under wraps). Those who are interested in a sneak preview may sign up on our website and/or contact me.
I’ve posted more about this at Indimingle.com (http://www.indimingle.com) – referencing this post as well.
Cheers,
Roj
Pradyot, I think one of the issues is a flood of resumes and no way to screen them well (at the resume stage itself) — in that sense, some assessment and references can be helpful.
Directionally, the recruitment focus in the Indian online industry has gone towards bulk hiring, and the other end (key hires) are probably not well served. Both from employer and employee perspective.
Alok and All
What are the pain points of the applicants and the recruiters?
Thanks
Pradyot
hey, that’s my idea š
