- Let’s face it, fake CVs are ruining IT !!! - February 19, 2007
Hi Amit,
It was nice to hear that your company Mohanchoti has come up with a new revolution in Recruitment. With this, candidates will be hesitant to put fake information on their CV’s. It saves a lot of precious time and money of the whole I.T industry. I think HR people of all the companies may not take that extra pains from now on.

Hi Amit,
Read the messages for another perspective, here http://www.rediff.com/getahead/2007/feb/20msg.htm
Have you ever faked your CV?
The fake CV controversy has reared its ugly head again.
Last year, companies like Wipro, Infosys, TCS and HSBC terminated employees because they had faked their resumes during the recruitment process.
This year has already seen IT major Satyam Computers terminate the services of 500 employees who joined the company using fake CVs.
Though IT companies have employed verification companies to scan such irregularities, potential CV fakers don’t seem to be deterred.
The National Association of Software and Service Companies has come out with a National Skills Registry to counter this problem. NSR contains personal, academic and employment details of individuals employed/ to be employed in the IT and ITeS industry; this background information would have been checked by a professional agency.
Have YOU ever embellished your CV, or faked it altogether? Share your experiences.
What do you think prompts a candidate to fake his or her CV? Aren’t they afraid of getting caught?
Don’t you think Indian companies will earn a bad name due to this?

Hi Amit….
Nice to see u r mail….this is very good thing to eliminate fake candidates from companies….what about employees working in Higher Authorigy like HR’s in Hyderabad…. These HR People motivate the consultancy people to send the fake candidates and share backdoor amount ……..is this correct? if every company looks for genuine candidates these big comapnies can run their project’s with out manpower…..just u have to think in that direction also…
Thanks & Regards
Sridhar
Interesting concept, esp of paying candidates for their referrals! Something on the lines of jobster.com, not sure if you have tried to differentiate from them. Also, I couldn’t see where you check the authenticity of the referrers, this is especially important since the business model seems to be based on their referrals and the quality therein. Have you tried working with some client companies to see if they see value in this, because they themselves spend money in reference checks etc (almost all mid-size companies I know of does it via some third-party companies). However, the problem you are trying to solve is very genuine: I personally had such a hard time trying to get good, validated resumes from the placement consultants we worked with in Hyderabad.
Good luck!
Muchos gracias for the well edited post. A few comments sir, if I may:
1) I tried to register as a candidate, and I was asked for a text resume or a file upload. In the text I typed something like “I’m a…” but it refused to let me in with the following error message: “Please enter Valid text. This site does not accept inverted quotes (‘)” I’m not sure why that is but that might not work for everyone.
2) Search doesn’t seem to work right. I searched for “.NET” and “ASP” and found no results but the JDs have them when you browse.
3) Overall the site needs some work in terms of polishing hte language and making the interface more intuitive. BUt I guess you’re working on that bit.
one thing that strikes me is: how do you deal with vendetta? if an ex employer wants to rate someone badly just for the heck of it, do you have an open, transparent redressal system in place?
