We at Proto.in have been realizing the need for startups who are looking for talent to hire. We did announce that we’ll do something about this and here it goes:
In most cases, it does seem like there is just a simple need to connect folks with the right people; Startups and the people who are interested in joining them.
I’ve setup a simple template at http://startuplunch.proto.in which should explain the process. It’s quite simple. If you are a startup, put down your name, and the company info. And if you are someone looking to join a startup, jot down your name. If the startups can collaborate and set a date then its to follow a meeting over lunch and see if your interests with the candidate match up.
I am very keen to hear of your suggestions. Feel free to create a new wiki/site should you find the need and just link it up to the section under your city so that people can follow.
Am hoping that this will serve to be self-sustainable so that there is no additional overheads on the already lean finances of the startup.
If you are looking for a job in an interesting startup and would like to meet the founders over lunch sometime, do feel free to register right away.

Virat, I dont think I can take on the task of assuring funding for all startups 🙂
Vijay,
Educating is more expensive then making educated guy work for you. In many sense you are right but the problem is with society not taking risk. Please go through all funding options in India they all are too keen to save them self from any exposure.
Any young graduate will adopt startup if he knows funding and smooth functioning of the organization is possible in the ecosystem. But in our case either you do income/expenditure = 1.01 to 1.2 as startup or you die in vain. Why society will take risk? That is major problem for any program like yours.
You startup this program and you will find many guys who do’nt even qualify for normal coding job will also apply through your program. Then filtering will become big issue. Filtering right and good talent is very expensive for any start up.
Please think about any referral or any management system which supports the filtering of unwanted people from wanted people. Then you have a deal for all startups. Please do’nt make filtering through apptitute test or % in 10 and 12th or conventional filtering mechanism.

Hi I am a business manager at a startup. Been with a startup for over a year now. Am looking for interesting startups in gurgaon/delhi area. But unfortunately don’t want to put my name on the list for obvious reasons. Could you suggest alternate means of getting to the meet… ?
Virat,
What you are talking about is awareness building. NEN has been doing that for years and trust me, that groundwork will break your back and it demands a lot of time and energy – both of which I dont have right now. But NEN, our partner, is working on equipping these students with that awareness – Though if you dont even know what a startup is, going from there to actually joining one is a huge step.
