Kalpavasi.com sends team of experts to study the holy Karthik Poornima Snan (Bath) in the Ganges at Haridwar, India
Karthik Poornima Snan (Bath) as the name indicates is observed on Karthik Poornima (the day of the new moon) on the banks of the river Ganges in Haridwar, India.
In 2009, Karthik Poornima Snan (Bath) is on November 2nd i.e., today. Several millions of devotees will visit Haridwar today and take holy dip in the Ganges. Karthik Poornima is the last day to perform the holy bath during the month of Karthik in India.
A bath at Haridwar, India is considered as auspicious since Hindus believe that by doing so their sins will be washed away and their souls will gain entry to Heaven. On Karthik Poornima, the ritual becomes more sacred as it coincides with the worship of Lord Shiva who, on this day, destroyed Tripura-Sur (a demon) and made the world once again a safe place to live in.
Our team of Indologists @ http://www.kalpavasi.com are involved in continuous research in developing, improving & documenting the services that we provide to guests who are visiting the forthcoming Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, India as Kalpavasis.
As a part of this effort, http://www.kalpavasi.com has sent a team of experts to Haridwar to study the Karthik Poornima Snan (Bath) in the Holy Ganges on November 2, 2009. The team will look into the arrangements made for this important Shan (Bath) and study various routes to reach the important ghats and Crowd control systems for the pilgrims.
